This week is OSHA’s (Occupational Safety and Health Admin.) National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls in Construction week, and many companies are sharing new resources that raise awareness about the safe use of equipment and technology in construction.
For instance, Genie, a Terex brand, is providing a Safe Use Plan Guidance whitepaper to give tips for creating a safe use plan when operating MEWPs (mobile elevating work platforms) in the aerial access industry. This can also help construction professionals best prepare for upcoming standards changes in North America.
In the new ANSI A92.22-2018 and CSA B354.7:17 standards, business owners that employ the use of MEWPs are required to have a safe use plan in place for their organization. Training is mandated, including the need to be aware of safe use planning, supervisor training, occupant training, and maintenance and repair personnel training. The new Safe Use Plan Guidance can help prepare for the standards.
