Back in 1918, the Taborian Hall, the building that houses the Dreamland Ballroom, was completed and has now stood in downtown Little Rock for almost 100 years. Last spring, FOD (Friends of Dreamland) was awarded a grant for nearly $500,000 for various work on the third floor and that funding has allowed the grassroots nonprofit to make big changes including the addition of new windows, professional sealing of the building, and more.
The FOD board has also initiated a Capital Campaign, Pave the Way, to assist with the unexpected and extra costs associated with construction.
After almost a year of deliberating and bureaucracy, this spring the construction of the elevator addition to access the third-floor ballroom will begin. The addition will include a four-stop elevator, basement to ballroom that will make this historic, 100-year-old structure handicap accessible.
