Well, in 2016, Cornerstone Building Brands, a manufacturer of exterior building products, launched its Home for Good project to help address the affordable housing crisis. This year, it will partner with country music star Luke Bryan to continue its efforts.
More than 18 million U.S. households (1 in 6) pay 50% or more of their income on housing, forgoing personal and economic stability that safe, decent, and affordable housing provides. Not having access to affordable housing takes a toll on the health and wellness of families. Cost-burdened households with children spend on average $190 less on food and 70% less on health care when compared with similar households living in affordable homes.
Since 2016, Cornerstone has donated some $2 million in exterior building products to Habitat for Humanity, contributing to in excess of 500 homes in 70 communities. In addition, the company encouraged its employees to volunteer on Habitat home builds throughout the country. Hundreds of employees have volunteered their time across more than 30 cities.
In 2020, the company has plans to also donate exterior products to the building and remodeling of affordable homes for families in need. Additionally, Cornerstone employees have plans to volunteer their time to work on home-build projects in 10 communities across the country where they have manufacturing facilities and locations.
Cornerstone Building Brands seems to be committed on focusing on helping custom home builders and mixed-use developments on maximizing a residential products from windows, sidings, shingles, shutters, roofing materials for more beautiful homes.
